Taada!

I’m going to have to weld backings on some. I really hope they get here :(.
Timothy’s recent works are more sparkly-pretty and that’s why I’ve taken an interest in his art. His art is very decorative and is reminiscent of the Victorian era, which is often connected with extravagant decorations that mimic the delicate and precise beauty of nature. His recent works are all handmade and they look completely one of a kind, not only because they are original artworks, but also because they have small imperfections (that really makes them look as though they were made in the 18th century).

Tarina Tarantino, a jewelery maker. She started off by mixing scraps of metal and bits and pieces from other jewelery to create unique accessories (mainly broaches and hair clips). She’s become pretty popular over the last decade and has had plenty of celebs wear her jewelery, so i think her work has become more ‘mainstream’. Below are examples of her recent collections, Acid Alice and Pink Head (aka Hello Kitty). Click

Human in the animal or animal in the human? I really like the similarities between us.

Robert Gober

I like these works because they’re more relevant to what i’m doing this semester. Cold, inanimate objects that are combined with ‘something’ that evokes a sort of familiarity and connection between viewer and artwork.

Like last year, I’m thinking of sticking with sculpture and building things. However, instead of making ‘hybrid animals/humans’, i wanted to (somehow) infuse a humanish quality into inanimate objects. This is where i came up with the ‘haunted objects’ theme. I’m not sure if it will take me anywhere, but i’m hoping i wont get hopelessly bored with it (like i usually do) and give up.
